When writing my dissertation, I found that changing the font to Comic Sans or Papyrus is an effective way of forcing myself to be self-critical and preventing myself from, for lack of a better phrase, "falling in love" with what I wrote (the "scholarly" classic-looking fonts like Sabon, Garamond, Baskerville tend to have that effect on me)

As someone who creates software for the education space, in my experience Comic Sans is picked in schools because it has the 'a' in the shape that you actually write an 'a'. This helps when teaching primary school children. Some schools will got out of their way to buy special fonts but most will default to Comic Sans because it is ubiquitous.

I've been using a comic sans based mono font now since the last time I saw it on HN (about a year ago based on my receipt). I use a paid version called Comic Code [1] I find it very easy to read as well as fun. I had similar feelings about using Monaco in the past. I find it personally makes programming easier on the eyes and enjoyable. I remember reading the font is similar to the letters that are taught in kindergarten which is a theory of why it's easy on the eyes. [1] https://tosche.net/fonts/comic-code

While we're in this thread suggesting comic-style monospaced fonts, I can recommend Monaspace Radon: https://monaspace.githubnext.com/ (go down to variants, it's 4th) It actually works! I actually really like Comic Sans and that style of font. Don't understand the haters!
