C 语言无处不在，却一直没有一场以它命名的大会。文章就此发问，并指出每年最接近“C 大会”的其实是 CppCon——由于 C++ 大量构建在 C 之上，其中许多演讲同样适用于 C 程序员，文中大部分篇幅也正是作者精选的 CppCon 演讲视频链接。

C 像锤子一样是跨行业的通用工具，社区围绕应用领域而非语言本身形成，而大会本质是社交场合。
建筑行业会有各种大会，但不会有“锤子大会”。行业大会上当然会有工具厂商参展，甚至可能有“用机器学习实现高效敲锤”的分论坛，但就是没有以锤子为主题的大会。对了，下周的铁匠大会上也会有锤子厂商摆摊。Ruby 大会倒还说得通，因为人们主要用它做网站，那本质上是“用某工具造某东西”的大会。但 C 的应用面太广了，办 C 大会就像办 HammerFest 2019：从抡大锤劈柴的汉子到拿小锤敲宝石的匠人全来了。我真想象不出钻石匠和伐木工散场后在酒店酒吧一起喝酒的样子。:-) 开个玩笑——反正这种大会主要就是社交，不然在网上看视频就行了。

Because though there might be building trades conferences, there are no hammer conferences. Oh, there will be tool vendors at the building trades conferences, there might be sessions on "Efficient Hammering Techniques Using Machine Learning", but there are no conferences about hammers. Don't forget about the blacksmith conference next week, they'll have hammer vendors, too. I dunno, a Ruby conference kinda makes sense because one will mostly build web sites with it, so it's really going to be a "Building $FOO with $TOOL" kind of thing. But C is so widely used, it's like having that HammerFest 2019 with everyone from people splitting wood with a sledghammer to jewelers with their teensy little tapping tools. I just don't see the diamond workers drinking with the lumberjacks at the hotel bar after hours. :-) I jest, but it's mostly about networking anyway, otherwise just watch the videos online.
2012 年确实有人尝试办 C 大会，最终因缺乏演讲者和内容而作罢。

C 开发者有自己的聚集地，只是这些大会按领域而非语言命名。
虽然没有严格意义上的 C 大会，但确实存在 C 开发者聚首的大会：Linux Plumbers Conference、FOSDEM、All Systems Go。

C 社区早在八九十年代起就被并入 C++ 生态，连《C 用户期刊》也改成了 C/C++ 期刊。
（引用原文：每年最接近 C 大会的就是 CppCon，其中很多演讲内容同样适用于 C……）没错。从八十年代到本世纪初，C 作为一个社区逐渐被 C++ 吞并了。《C 用户期刊》也是同样的命运，后来变成了《C/C++ 用户期刊》。

A lot of CppCon isn’t really just about C++, and the subjects of many of the talks are easily applied to C, since C++ builds so much upon C. In a sense, a subset of CppCon could be considered a C conference. That’s what I’m looking for when I watch the CppCon presentations each year on YouTube. that's right.
